Venography

This review is to opacify the deep veins of the lower limbs, with a dye opaque to X-rays, and taking radiographs.

The venography shows a blood clot that characterizes phlebitis and specifies the severity of the latter, depending on the height at which the vein is blocked and the shape of the clot.

The phlebo-cavography is the same examination, but this term means that the exploration is not confined to the veins of both lower limbs, but we also explored the vena cava. Such obstruction is serious because a clot can break off and migrate to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolus. Therefore he must lie, without getting up, in case of phlebitis, until the treatment is effective. The review is slightly painful at the beginning, when the two puncture veins, performed at each foot. The physician then injects the product, creating a sensation of intense heat, and radiographs were made.

It must be fasting for several hours and, most importantly, tell a doctor about a possible allergy to iodine, because it requires special treatment.
