Thanks to enormous advances in treatment, surviving breast cancer is a common reality. Nevertheless, the treatments significantly affect women. How the lives of women cured of breast cancer is it transformed?

If during any period of support, women generally feel well supported and supervised by their surroundings and the personal health, however, when medical assistance ends, they often feel ' abandoned '. And even if the disease has been cured, the fear is still evolving and persistent manifestation of any symptoms reactive fear. The consequences of treatment


The psychological effects vary by type of surgical treatment: removal more or less of the breast, with or without sentinel lymph node, not breast reconstruction or not, immediate or deferred, etc.. In the latter case, being able to ask an external breast prosthesis until reconstruction is always beneficial to restore body image. Also note that to receive radiation therapy may complicate the possibilities of immediate breast reconstruction.

Chemotherapy is a different matter, often disrupting the menstrual cycle. Thus some women, the rules reappear after a temporary interruption, whereas in others, menopause sets. Unable to predict these disturbances, we can use a contraceptive intrauterine device to prevent any risk of pregnancy.
